A very upbeat meeting with a fantastic presentation from Rachel Montague from The People Consultancy about a solution to the problem of cold calling.
As usual, everyone had put a great deal of thought into their 60 second presentations.  Helen came up with a wonderful gardening analogy for what they do at the HR Department.  She talked about the need to nurture staff like plants, with proper training and development opportunities but also the requirement for occasional pruning through performance management or disciplinary procedures.  She didn’t specifically mention snipping off anyone’s head with secateurs but...
We also had Mr Selfridge references, Terry Wogan and life sized Mother–in-Laws.  All of which fun and games makes it much easier to remember how we can assist each other and helps to ensure that we continue to pass an impressive amount of business at our monthly meetings.
We were pleased to be joined today by guests Stacy Codling fromDela Property Management, Elaine Whiddon from HSBC and Rachael Ross from Purely Peppermint.  And it’s au revoir to Sue O’Connor who has been a wonderful member for several years.  We wish her well with taking her business in a new direction.   As we wish Denise well with her forthcoming project

Our Quiz Night at the Bridgehouse Tavern was a great success.  Thanks so much to the Bridgehouse team for their fantastic hospitality.  It was a wonderful venue and the evening enabled us to make a donation of £500 to our nominated charity St Christopher’s Hospice.  And finally, well done to Mary for once again winning the quiz!!
