4th September 2013

Our ‘back to school’ meeting was very well attended and we were pleased to welcome back as visitors Claire De Vos of Devos Consultancy and Lynda Hudson of Beckenham Clinical Hypnosis.  It was also great to see some new faces in the shape of Clara Gibson of Drastic to Fantastic and Julia Daley of Changes.
Joyce Batten from Tutor Doctor gave a very informative elongated speech (TM Siobhan!) about her business and brilliantly illustrated her passion for what she does when she said “It’s one thing to make a dollar, it’s another to make a difference.”  It was interesting to learn about the wide range of ages and topics for which Joyce can provide tutoring support and to hear her almost parental reaction to results season! Joyce’s focus at the moment is to develop strategic partnerships with complementary businesses and also to spread the word about Tutor Doctor by attending family related events, fetes and fairs.
Quote of the Month?

“It’s not too soon to start thinking about Christmas!” Belinda O’Grady from SE20 Magazine is probably right to encourage businesses to consider their advertising plans for the rest of the year; but she didn’t win any fans for mentioning Christmas in September

Watch this space for our Outstanding October meeting.  There will be a guest speaker to motivate and inspire us through the rest of the year and we hope to tempt along a record number of guests.  In addition, there will  be cake pops!  Members – let’s get those visitors invited!  Non Laptops ladies – get in touch to see if your business category is free!

Denise Sanderson Estcourt of Damson Belle is running her ‘Look Awesome in Autumn & Wow in Winter’ workshop on Saturday 5th and Wednesday 16th October.  It’s 2.5 hours and costs from just £25 per person.
