3rd July 2013

It was great to hear in more depth from one of our newest members, Siobhan Kelly of Facepaint London,  In addition to parties for kids (and adults!) she is also planning to introduce some workshops, which would be excellent preparation for a group of parents who may have been roped in to Facepaint at the school fete or in the run up to Halloween!  There was much enthusiasm around the table and suggestions were flying for other possible opportunities including Hen Nights and Masked Balls.

We also heard from Christine Davies from Harris HospisCare, who was once again voted through unanimously as our Charity representative at the AGM.  Christine reminded us about the invaluable work of Harris and of the size of the fundraising task she faces, with £2,630 needing to be raised every day to deliver the service.  She was also able to tell us about a car show that she is planning for 8th September.

And finally, even the introduction of a fantastic crab and salmon fishcake to the menu couldn’t compensate for the group’s sadness that it was the last meeting for Colleen Guy of Spirit Mystique.  Colleen has moved out of the area  - making membership unworkable – but has been a fantastic contributor to the growth of the group over the past two years and many members have benefitted from her wonderful training courses and coaching sessions.  She will be missed as a member but we hope to welcome her back as a guest speaker in the future.
Quote of the Month?

“It’s weird but it works”
Sue Toomey of Croydon Reiki made us all smile with this description of what she does.  But the positive feedback around the table would suggest she’s right about it working!

On Thursday 4th July a team of Laptops runners braved extremely hot conditions to take part in the first Run for Life 5K organised by our nominated charity Harris HospisCare.  Early indications are that we raised around £600 but it’s not too late to donate.  Please visit www.justgiving.com
